As Farming Goes High-Tech, Espionage Threat Grows

June, 2017 – The FBI is concerned about the theft of agricultural intellectual property (IP). Agricultural IP includes company trade secrets, proprietary information, and research and the authors of a recent report say that China is the biggest offender.

NPR has an interesting article about agricultural and biotech espionage. The article describes how scientists at Ventria Bioscience developed a way to genetically engineer rice only to find an employee was giving away trade secrets to the Chinese. Read at:
